You asked if I’d ever met Simon Armitage. I did, briefly once, he’d just finished an interview for Radio Lancashire, I was waiting to go on and do my weekly ten minutes on the internet (this was about 2005 when it was still new and strange to a lot of people.) So it was a ase of a quick greeting in the studio ante room, not really worth calling a chat. I’ve been fascinated by Arhurian mythology since about age 10 so I’ve enjoyed his Arthurian stuff and, unusually for a poet loved by the literary establishment he doesn’t seem to be up himself.
