In a way I guess Trump is more honest that other top politicians, not just in the USA but throughout the developed world. World politics is showbusiness, its about selling deceptions, about manipulating perceptions. The people we elect as presidents and prime ministers are not leaders, they are just a front for various interest groups, they job to sell policies that advance the agendas of those groups to people who ought instinctively know such policies do not serve our interests.
That being the case, it is perhaps appropriate that the reality TV star and the head of state who has no power should be fretting and strutting their hour upon the stage as Shakespeare put it. All they need is suitable musical accompaniment:
