Trying to debate with liberals is even more futile than arguing with doorstep evangelists. You nailed it perfectly here Molly, capturing the pointlessness of trying to exchange opinions with people who are convinced their is no acceptable world view but theirs. And we (the broad spectrum of non liberals) are at an obvious disadvantage as their superior intellect enables them to hit us with unopposable debating points as, fascist, far right not job, young earth creationist, Klan sympathiser, homo / trans phobe, xenophobe and Trump supporter.

The whole experience often reminds me of a famous scene in Monthy Puthon and The Holy Grail in which King Arthur is challenged to a duel.

"Come on and fight," yells the Black Knight wen Arthour steps back after lopping off this opponents shield arm. Arthur replies:

"But I've cut you arm off, you can't fight like that,"

"Tis only a fleash wound," protests the Black Knight, launching another attack.

Arthur cuts off his sword arm, but the Blasck Knigh continues to taunt him and call him a coward who is afraid to fight, as he tries to kick Arthur.

Eventually the King cuts off one of the Knights legs, but the man continues to hop around attempting to headbutt Arthur who responds by cutting off his other leg.

The sketch ends with Arthur mounting his horse and riding away as the helmeted head and limbless torso call after him, "Come back and fiight you coward, I'll bite your ankles."

I think many of us who have clallenged the certainties of the Wokeness Cult will have had similar experiences. I think of myself not as a conservative but a classical liberal. Having given up on the UK Liberal Party when they drifted so far left they ended up to the right of Genghis Kahn, I'm in a political wilderness now and can't even be bothered to vote in elections.

Opted for comfortable retirement before I was fifty due to health problems and burn out. Now spend my time writing and goofing around. Home: northern England..
