Top class in depth analysis here. I think what many American’s have been unaware of, Joe Scarborough among them judging by that tweet, is that US troops in Syria have been largely ineffective. It was Iranian and Russian intervention that stopped the advance of ISIS, not US efforts, in fact many pundits said while Obama was still president the USA was not interested in defeating ISIS, their goal was to remove Assad.
I’m not going to offer an opinion on that, let’s just say some very convincing arguments have been put forward to support the case.
As for the contributions of the named Hollywood celebrities, Bette Midler, Mia Farrow and Cher and their ilk, who “burst out of their dust pods of irrelevance to scream at everyone that limitless US military expansionism is glorious,” is it just me or does anyone else find their support for Obama’s wars a tad hypocritical when they so publicly hated Bush’s wars.
I’m sure the families of innocent people who died in Syria’s conflict don’t feel any better because that war was started by a stupid speech made by an LGBT rights supporting black liberal. Their loved ones are just as dead as the people who died in Iraq or Afghanistan phase one.
But if President Fart handed anyone a Christmas gift it’s Iran, not that the Ayatollahs do much celebrating of course. The Shi’ites still control a strategically important arc of territory stretching from the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean.
