This should be required reading for those intending to post cliche ridden self — help articles here (or anywhere else on the web). Only think I disagreed with is the reference to Life Is Math Not Magic. Nature does not do mathematics. Those who suggest life is mathematical are guilty of trying to impose order on chaos, and when people try to do that, then as novelist Terry Pratchett wrote in The Thief Of Time, chaos will always win because it’s better organised.
Oh and by the way “Math” fans, Math is really an ancient Celtic god. Mathematics is a set of disciplines including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry that we use for counting and calculating. Mathematicians like to claim their subject is foremost among the sciences, but in fact it is not a science at all but an art; literally an artifice — something created by humans. “Mathematicians seek patterns”, goes the conventional wisdom, but are those patters they find the result of design or chance? Did the ammonite evolve that way because it was designed to or did it fail to become a snail, crab or turtle because by pure chance its environmental niche was not capable of supporting more complex creatures?
OK, how’s that for a bit of non conformist thinking.
