This is an excellent insight into how the internet has changed (or has been changed) so that it is no longer a tool for accessing information but has become a tool for controlling what information we can access. There are ways to beat this trend of course. Use Medium, Minds or similar general reading / commenting (though the latter is becoming a bit too obsessed with kittens and puppies,) avoid Google, be wary of Bing and Yahoo — try searcing on DuckDuckGo, Startpage or Qwant for search — there are others out there to try but if I want a serious search I use a metacrawler, which is not available to everyone. Palemoon or Vivaldi are good browsers now that Firefox has sold out.
