So you’re not a socialist, you’re a social democrat. It is not possible to be a libertarian and a socialist. In a social democracy nobody should be allowed to starve and communities care for the sick and vulnerable. As for socialism ,in the past I have compared I have compared it to the monsters of Greek and Norse myth that wreak destruction without reason simply because it is their nature. Karl Marx was a weirdo who spent all his time with his nose in books and thus understood little of human nature, which is why though Das Kapital was a reasonable critique of capitalism, to understand the man you have to read Communist Manifesto, written with his close friend and benefactor, the capitalist businessman Freidrich Engels, in which they set out the model for the socialist slave states responsible for the deaths of many millions of people through starvation, lack of healthcare and general dysfuction throughout the twentieth century.

You are bang on with the points in section 3 about money, power and the oligarchic tyranny societies dominated by money quickly become, but unfortunately socialism, as history shows, throws up even more brutal tyrants, Mao Tse Tung, Uncle Joe Stalin, Erich Honeker, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Mihn, Castro, Kim Jong Il …
All these mass murderers were able to rise to power because socialism requires an all — powerful central bureaucracy, thus the government becomes an elite, detached from the reality of ordinay people’s lives, (a sociology lecturer whose classes I attended over 50 years ago told us all Karl Marx really did was take the core philosophy of Zionism and replace God with The State. It’s a bit hyperbolic but is an arguable case.) Social Democracy can work but only seems to in small communities. To resolve the problems common to both capitalist oligarchies and communist dictatorships perhaps we need to devolve power to smaller social units of, say, quater of a million max.
