Nope, you didn't convert me. I've lived through several eras of socialist (Labour Party) government, they've all started out with a manifesto containing all the same ideals as your article, and they've failed because ideals look great on paper but don't work in practice.

I recommend for your bedtime reading Joseph Schumpeter's book Capitaism, Socialism and Democracy in which Schumpeter expounds his theory of creative destruction and gives us this famous warning:

Capitalism contains the seeds of its own destruction, socialism always leads to fascism
