It seems to me from a few minutes research that most C Diff infections occur while people are [a] in hospital, [b] taking strong anti biotics or [c]both.
So the best way of preventing infection is stay away from hospital and don’t take antibiotics — most antibiotic prescriptions are inappropriate anyway, which is why we now have antibiotic resistant diseases — because if the best way of developing an infection is through taking antibiotics and the only cure is antibiotics it’s just a vicious circle. Did I mention something about the goal of modern medicine being to make us all patients for life?
The only time in the foreseeable future I will set foot in the local hospital is when, accompanied by my lawyer, I tell the CEO and head of legal dept. that we now have evidence that my wife died in their care because of criminal negligence and as all the money in the world will not bring her back and I have accepted that my initial wish to see heads on spikes above the main entrance is not reasonable I will expect several resignations by way of apology.
Actually you’ve given me an idea, as medics are so keen of pushing someone else’s shit up patients arses, I will be happy to ram copied of the non disclosure agreement they want be to sign up their arses after I have wraped it around fire extinguishers.
As you may have guessed medics are not my favourite profession right now.
