I’ll make a note never to buy a used car from you. The OFFICIAL (i.e. not corporate propaganda) figure for energy from sustainable sources for 2016 is a little short of 15% and half of that comes from hydroelectric generator plants (sustainable yes, but hardly a new technology).
So after two decades of intense lobbying solar and $$$billions invested, solar and wind still look like no starters.
Why?
Because we need a reliable supply of electricity which means generators have to be on stream 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. And though we know when the sun will rise and set we still can’t account for cloud cover, nor can we predict when the wind will blow sufficiently strongly and steadily enough to be reliable.
And that’s without considering the filthy processes involved in manufacturing ‘clean energy’ generating kit. All you are doing is moving the pollution from power stations in the first world to rare earth metal mining ops and smelting processes in the third world.
