I don’t know about Medium’s owners, never had any contact with them, but I have noticed the amount of snowflakes among the userbase are of blizzard proportions.
Which in itself introduces a level of bias. In my long experience on the net I have noticed a tendency among site managers to knee — jerk responses when faced with complaints. They arbitrarily delete posts and delist users without inquiry, there is no right of appeal, no opportunity to justify yourself.
And bansturbators ( liberals / lefties that get off on banning everything they don’t like,) are more likely to complain anyway because a) they are self righteous and b) the silencing of opposing views is part of their agenda, are thus rewarded for complaining and given an incentive to object to increasingly trivial controversies or the most reasonable criticisms of their ‘sacred cow’ causes (e.g. Islamic extremism, trans — rights bullying or #MeToo witch hunts.)
On the other hand conservatives, libertarians and classical liberals ten to be more mature, open minded and tolerant individuals who on seeing yet another grossly offensive post on ‘white’ supremacists’ or ‘toxic masculinity’ will shrug ans say to themselves, “OK, the writer is an idiot but everyone is entitled to their opinion, I’ll ignore this person’s posts. It isn’t worth worrying about.”
But that’s what grown ups would to.
