Has World Health Organisation Been Helping Chinese Coronavirus Coverup?

Many people suspected as far back as January, when stories about an epidemic of a previously unknown virus began to leak out of China that we were not and would not be told the whole story. The virus infecting thousands of Chinese in the large, but little known in the democratic world, city of Wuhan was, we learned, a strain of corona virus, the genre that infects us with the common cold, influenza and a host of other infections of varying seriousness.

Reports on the progress of the virus varied, from mainstream media’s parroting of the Chinese government official like that the outbreak, which had started in the Wuhan fish market, through people eating bats to allegedly leaked reports that the COVID-19 virus responsible for the epidemic was a genetically modified version of Coronavirus, developed as a biological weapon. This story was leaked by a scientists who had been involved in biological weapons research and supported by claims from biologists that the new strain contained inserts from HIV DNA (technicallly simple organism like viruses do not have DNA but the less complex RNA but sometimes it is expedient to stick with terms everybody understands,) that would enable to COVID-19 to defent itself against attack by the autoimmune system.

The World Health Organization (WHO), which praised the response of Beijing’s response to the novel coronavirus, accepting without question the Chinese propagandists version of how the disease had been contained, and at one point denying human-to-human transmission was taking place as the deadly and highly contagious disease spiraled out of control inside the secretive communist country.

The official WHO Twitter account postings from January and February show the United Nations body was feeding Chinese propaganda into the news cycle in spite of China’s apalling record for lack of transparency in times of crisis.. We now know Health officials in China detected the first case of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on November 17 in Wuhan, China but the epidemic was not reported to the outside world until the beginning of January, well December 31st 2019 to be exact, but to borrow a phrase from former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, New Year’s Eve is “a good day to bury bad news.”

Even then Communist officials in China concealed the true extent of the coronavirus outbreak in the early stages of the outbreak, jailing and silencing (quite possibly ‘disappearing’ whistleblowers who tried to leak the real number of infections and deaths, or talk about the existence of a biloweapons research centre in Wuhan. The policy allowed the virus tobecome established in China and to be carried by business and leisure travellers beyond Chinese borders.. The ruling communist party, however, has hailed the recent slowdown of the outbreak as a sign of the superiority of its authoritarian political system, while the WHO has not challenged these claims but as before simply accepted them without question.

A study carried out by the University of Southampton in the UK, determined that The Chinese government could have prevented 95 percent of the coronavirus infections worldwide if Beijing had listened to the doctor whistleblowers in Wuhan about the seriousness of the disease to vulnerable groups instead of silencing and punishing them for speaking out while continuing to present false information about the numbers infected and dead.

“At critical moments, officials chose to put secrecy and order ahead of openly confronting the growing crisis to avoid public alarm and political embarrassment,” the New York Times reported in early February. China has refused to admit its mishandling of the outbreak during its initial phase or apologize to the world for the extent of the outbreak, yet we are expected to sing the praises of authoritarianism.

Meanwhile all the evidence suggests the WHO, which is the body supposedly responsible for coordinating responses to epidemics, has been covering for the ruling communist party in China. On January 14, the day before the first case to reach the United States reportedly flew from Wuhan to Seattle, Washington, the WHO categorically denied that the disease was being spread through human-to-human transmission.

“Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel [coronavirus] identified in [Wuhan],” the WHO wrote on Twitter.

It was only after a Twitterstorm lasing several days that the WHO finally conceded person-to-person transmission was possible and was happening, but the organisation continued to play down the risk of transmission through contact with infected people for several days.

They certainly got that one wrong, but was it a genuine mistake or is there some kind of collusion between east and west to conceal the origins, extent and risks of the epidemic or the opportunities it provides for the long coveted global, meritocratic government?
