Happy I found this, there seem to be few people on Medium capable of taking an objective view on world affairs. Germany and France have been collaborating to use the European Union to dominate Europe and eventually create a Federal European superstate for decades. I’ve heard it argued and though I can’t confirm it is true, in the light of events it makes sense, that Britain was not invited to join the original ‘Common Market’ until 1970 because Germany and France wanted to ensure they had control of all the institutions.
An example of the undemocratic and corrupt way the EU does business was the way Martin Selmayr, a protege of EU Commission President Jean Claude Drunkard (who has brandy for breakfast — allegedly), was elevated from being Juncker’s gofor to General Secretary of the EU Commission in the space of twenty minutes, first being appointed as assistant general secretary and then immediately, after the Italian incumbent announced his retirement, chosen by consensus as general secretary.
What has never been discussed in mainstream media, but is fully documented in EU archives is a plan to extend the EU beyond Europe’s geographical boundaries into the middle east and north Africa.
So it’s easy to see why supporters of globalism (the new colonialism) like Merkel and Macron hate the upsurge in nationalist sentiment around the world. Globalism, and the global government it would usher in, could not possible work to the benefit of ordinary middle and working class people but would inevitably put the elites even more in control. Nationalism is a threat to that.
