Excellent essay Paul, and a thorough examination of Nazi political philosophy. I too have encountered from the left (who may call themselves left but whose actions are closer to past political movements they would describe as ‘far right,’) when I have pointed out that Nazi is in fact a contraction of ‘National Socialist.’
When I’ve had the usual angry responses thrown back at me, e.g. “What are you talking about, you idiot, everybody knows the Nazis were on the extreme right, I’ve recently been able to reply, “But if they identify as socialists surely we must accept them as socialists, after all equality means treating all individuals and groups in the same way.”

I like the way you clarified for the benefit of some readers what left and right mean in the context of this essay, such terms, in common with ‘fascist’ are very loosely defined and can easily be used to misrepresent things — especially in a liberal echo chamber like Medium.
